Eugenia-

I say go for it! DBT is getting a great deal of support from both the academic and clinical communities. It teaches some very unique skills and seems to have a great effect for many. I led a DBT-based group at a local mental hospital, and was very pleased to see the (often profound) changes in many of my clients!

You may also wish to look into resources on schema-based cognitive therapy (big names are Jeffery Young and <Janice/Janet?> Klosko). This approach also has empirical support and is very compatible with other forms of psychotherapy.

My best!
