doesn't your college have mental health services available? yes, CBT really helps with anxiety disorders, and lots of people are able to get off meds once they have their coping skills. but you can't do it alone or through a book, you really need someone experienced in CBT to teach you (and follow-up sesssions to reinforce what you learned). best of luck- judy
p.s. there is nothing wrong with staying on drugs if the CBT doesn't completely work- I use a combination and don't feel like a failure.
