You are intelligent. From what you've said about yourself, you won't accept being intelligent because no matter how smart you were and what good grades you got your father called you stupid.
What he did was damage your self-esteem so bad that you are convinced you are stupid about everything, you question every decision you make. The other night, you took a risk, and days later you're still beating yourself up over it. No, your decision to give him the ride was not the *perfect* one but you shouldn't be ashamed of it.
Repeat over and over, my father was stupid, my father was wrong.
Before you decide to take the GRE (something that I can't pass by the way- see how smart you are?!) I would really look into whether you truly want to be a therapist for the right reasons. In other words you think you'd be good at it, you want to help people and it's not just way to trick yourself into trying to still prove to your father you're smart.
Hope new meds help. I'm going Monday because mine just don't seem to do it anymore, either.
