In reply to EMDR has anyone tried it? , posted by john26 on October 9, 2003, at 3:17:06
hi..!
a friend of mine went through EMDR sessions (during 9 months more or less)..but together with therapy to process what happened during those sessions..she is an abuse survivor and she said it helped her greatly to reduce the intensity of her flashbacks..but it was quite hard ...She decided to go for it after having been in therapy for quite some time and not in a moment of deep crisis..because she said that it was really hard and challenging at times, especially in between sessions. But that in the long term it was really, really helpful for her.
If it has worked for your wife up to this point then maybe she should continue...?
Hope this helps a tiny bit.
hoping your wife finds what's good for her..
Adia.> my wife tried it and it seemed to help with specific things. we just moved and now we're not sure if we should continue. we've come across conflicting info about it. (ie. it's crap and doesn't work to it's a godsend that fixes everything) we just feel that it worked to this point and a test we took indicates no ptsd. we just have abusive mother patterns to work through and we wanted know other peoples experiences.
