I thought this was interesting...
"[a delta-Opioid receptor agonist]upregulated BDNF mRNA expression acutely (within 3 h after a single administration). These data support the concept that delta-opioid receptor agonists may have antidepressant potential, and could be good targets for the development of faster-acting antidepressants."

While there seems to be quite a few selective delta-Opioid agonists used in research, there aren't any available for clinical use. This one seems to be pretty interesting:
"[DPI-287] is a highly selective agonist for the δ-opioid receptor which produces less convulsions than most drugs from this family.[1] It has antidepressant effects."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DPI-287
Would something like this be addictive? Or is it the other opiod receptors that are responsible for addiction?
I googled the name to see if any chemical companies offer it, nada. Doesn't even have a CAS number. Then again, I probably shouldn't be messing around with unproven stuff.
There are some substances with d-opiod agonism that are sort of available, like buprenorphine and kratom plant extracts, but those seem to have euphoria and dependence issues.
