nmda receptors

Posted by englishman006 on August 19, 2008, at 2:42:02

I have been researching NMDA receptor antagonists and partial agonists. I am a little confused with the information and wondered if anyone could clarify. Do nmda receptor antagonists and partial agonists have a similar effect with regard to morphine tolerance. I'm just putting it out there in the hope someone can make better sense of it than me.
If they do share a similar effect then maybe D-cycloserine (an nmda partial agonist), could be used to enhance fear extinction whilst one is taking Memantine,(an nmda antagonist).
Thanks in advance,
Shaun.
