Hmmm... I think we talked about religion in general, not just about Jesus. Daddy had a wide ranging knowledge base and a delight in discussion to the point that he'd cheerfully take on any position to have a lively discussion. And to his credit, in many areas he considered all positions to be supportable.
So we'd discuss religion (and politics and horseracing and just about anything else) in whatever context it arose. From a religious statement by a public figure to truisms to the psychology of religion to the archeaological evidence and recent developments in the news that tied into religion.
And he was able to discuss these things from a non-ideological position and an interest in evidence that I thoroughly enjoyed.
We haven't had those discussions as often lately as we did before, in part because the topics were frequently not fit for a young boy. But I really miss knowing that I *can* sit at the bar with him and talk for hours about the things that interest me (that perhaps he taught me to be interested in because they interested him).
