Afraid/happy topamax triggering old ways - advice?

Posted by Sore mind HopeIntact on February 20, 2005, at 21:03:19

Hi..I'm new here...hope I'm posting in the right place.

I've been anorexic/bulimic for 10 years (I'm 24) and been recovered for 1 year. The Big Breakthrough was the discovery that I have Bipolar II which was hidden by the ED. I gained all sorts of hideous weight from the mood stabilizers, which I (shockingly!) didn't mind much - I guess because I was so sick before.

But I was just switched to topamax a month ago. "Topamax is known for its weight loss side effects" say the web sites....ha! combine that with an anorexic's revived mindset and we're off to the races! it makes it so easy not to eat at all...

I don't want to tell my doc - the weight that I gained from the other meds is melting like an ice cube in august....but part of me knows its wrong...but topamax is helping my moods....I'm scared they'll switch me off of it if I "confess" my being on the edge of a relapse..

advice?

thanks
