sad news about David Foster Wallace **trigger**

Posted by softheprairie on September 17, 2008, at 16:07:10

I know this board doesn't get much traffic, but I thought someone should mention this writer. I learned a few days ago that he killed himself. Some of his best-known books are "A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again" and "Infinite Jest". To be honest, tho, the only story of his that I've read is "The Depressed Person", which appeared as a short story in Harper's magazine in 1998. (I'm not sure if it's reprinted in a book of collected short stories, and if so, the title of that.) I remember finding the story eerily astute, as a depressed person.
