In reply to Can NAC make u feel worse cuz of 'chelation'?, posted by Lamdage22 on November 23, 2013, at 7:01:18
Hi Lamdage,
My understanding of the biochemical actions of n-acetylcysteine is limited, so it would be hard for me to speculate as to why you might be feeling worse on NAC. I can say that I experienced feelings of agitation and irritability right off the bat when I took the supplement and did not end up staying on it for very long. I wonder if maybe you're having a similar reaction, but only at doses exceeding 1,200 mg.
I don't feel as though I have the expertise to advise you on what to do, although if I were benefiting from a supplement at a lower dose but experiencing problems at a higher dose, I'd probably go with a dose that doesn't seem to bring on unpleasant effects.
