> I use melatonin 1mg every night at bedtime. If you start using it everynight, eventually you become dependent on it. If I don't take it even one night, I can't sleep. 1mg doesn't make me feel groggy in the morning like 3mg does. You don't really need 3mg if you take it every night. A little bit will do fine. As far as magnesium citrate is concerned, it may help with a more restful sleep, sure! I think Risperdal is helpful for sleep. I also take 400IU of Vitamin E at bedtime, which further helps me. I don't know if it would help you. Also, a little B6 and B1 can help with sleep if you are deficient in these vitamins. I take 100mg of B1 and 50-100mg of B6 at bedtime. They help me. Don't know if they'd help you. Probably if you are deficient. Good luck!

Thanks for your response...i am having some good luck with magnesium citrate in a supplement powder called "calm" (it basically just magnesium citrate once you add water and its kind of like one of those foamy heartburn drinks where you add water and it fizzes...it makes you feel very calm..hence the name!)

I decided not to use the melatonin anymore after further research...I read that your brain will stop making it on its own...I'm a shift worker anyhow so my circadian cycles are kind of screwed up from the get go...I've been trying to go to bed in the same two hour time frame every night...My goal is to get my body to do its work with as little tampering as possible...

I'm also researching getting a light therapy device that i can keep glowing at my terminal when i work third shift and while I'm at home on my off nights and trying to keep the same sleep patterns...i also take Risperdal and it has been very good with getting me to sleep in crucial time (ie: bringing me down from hypomania)...thanks for your insight i was starting to think no one would respond to my post!

peace
