Hi Tom,
this is a guess, so take it as such.
I've tried DHEA myself and didn't like it. Thinking about it , it also may have at best not done anthing to help my anxiety.
It did really boost testostrerone though.. huge noticebale increase.. and I didn't really want it either..
but cortisol does help my anxiety.. and pregnanolone goes into cortisol
,,so maybe pregnanlone may suit, it probably depends on your cortisol levels..and yes cortsiol absorbs thru skin.. depending on the cream..
the clearer thicker ointments absorb better than the thinner white creams I've found
Similar for oestrogens.. they absorb better with clear gels reportedlyso I'd expect DHEA to absorb thru the skin, and it's probably the way to go for most..at least it would be for me I suepct.
I didnt like the capsules at all
Skin absorption is a more time released effectthen again, some people don't need that.
with cortisol(hydrocortisone creams) I noticed an effect after about 20 mins or soI like methylprednisolone creams now better than DHEA.. probably for the progesterone(which goes to cortisol a lot usually and with me) as well as the tesosterone , oestrogens etc.
But with this and cortisols it should not be longer than a few weeks at most and only tiny amounts, and taper if more than a few days..
It's the cortisol effect ..
progesterone, I suspect, needs cycling too for that very reason( a lot coverts to cortisol probably).
Ther's also studies about taking too regularly and not getting the daily cycles right effecting cancer maybe and other side effects( with some hormones).. but it's confusing and gray at best.
well hope this isnt too confusing ..sory if I'm not clear,
It's something I doubt if much is really known about.. and studies are just NOT really there, those done, even by the best.. apply progesterone cream..measure.. find nothing.. but did they measure the cortisol levels and further effetcs along pathways etc? nah...
so really I shouldn't comment as I really don't know .. it's just what I've experienced .. I thinkHormones are kinda a last resort, but then, I guess so are pdrugs
Hope you found this a little helpful, as that's how it was meant :-)
