In reply to Coconut oil - any experiences?, posted by Joe Bloe on March 29, 2007, at 0:49:29
I tried it for about 2 months, I took about 1 to 2 tablespoons a day, plus I used it on some food. I saw absolutely no benefit with regards to mental health. I still use it on popcorn instead of butter and sometimes substitue butter with the virgin coconut oil. I tried to cook a batch of cookies with it, but the cookies turn out to hard for my liking. I don't use it much anymore, except sometimes I use it as a body lotion or deep hair conditioner.
I did notice that when I was using it, I started to put on some weight, which is the reason I also stopped using it. It is supposed to be good for viral illnesses, but honestly, I didn't find it to be any miracle cure for anything. Then again I have tried and bought just about every so called "natural" remedy known to man, as well as vitamins and minerals and supplements, and none have done anything "great" or noticeable. I am just a little more broke because of it. But amazingly, I still have hope and keep trying different things.
Good luck.
ps, honey is the only thing that actually made a difference with regards to allergies anyways. I take a tablespoon of raw local honey in the morning. It really does help my allergy symptoms.
