Theanine reduces cortisol just a myth!?

Posted by sregan on November 11, 2006, at 12:25:25

I've done a little more research on Theanine and I don't find anything scientific looking that states that it reduces cortisol directly. Lots of supplements that begin with "cort" that contain theanine and even claim it lowers cortisol but nothing else.
What I have found for Theanine states it is either a Glutmiate Antagonist for a GABA agonist (6 of one half dozen of the other?) and POSSIBLTY potentiates dopamine. If anyone has any real evidence please reply here. I've been taking theanine but if it has anti-glucocorticoid properties I need to know as my adrenals are already weak from three years of nuresolved anxiety.

Thanks,
Shawn
