The problem with bipolar, from what I've seen on this board, is that what people may use effectively for depression could have an opposite effect for bipolar. This page looks to be a pretty good summary of current thinking: http://www.moodswing.org/treatments.htm It makes some important points specific to bipolar, such as avoiding St. John's Wort and being careful with folic acid (which may preclude the use of a B complex).
Nothing has helped my depression as much as magnesium, which I tried based on this guy's website, who was himself bipolar. http://www.coldcure.com/html/dep.html
