> Hi, I've been taking the Magnesium Phosphate for about a week now. I find it VERY calming and wonderful. However, the semi-constipated state I was in (likely due to my current regime) is now worse! And I thought the Mag would cause the opposite. Oh, I'm so embarassed....
It's from the phosphate. Proof positive that you've messed up your electrolytes with it. Your body is now dependent on your "laxative" for phosphate, and it will suck every molecule of water out of your gut that it can get, to get enough phosphate that is dissolved in that water.
I'm sorry, but you're going to have to work through this.
Stop the phosphate.
Prunes.
3 large prunes, three times a day, until you don't need them.
In the meantime, you would likely benefit from a stool softener (docusate), and/or glycerine suppositories. Talk to your pharmacist.
Do **not** use psyllium fiber (Metamucil). Prunes.
I am on massive opiate doses for pain. I am a constipation expert, now. I nearly died, Christmas night, from a fecal impaction. I wonder what they put on the death certificate, if that is the cause. Heart failure?
Trust me, please.
