In reply to Nicotine gum/patches - is nicotine beneficial?, posted by Muad' Dib on February 5, 2006, at 21:44:06
I would say after reading this that nicotine is not beneficial to health.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicotine
"nicotine plays a role in carcinogenesis and may be considered to be a carcinogen on those grounds."
The therapeutic uses are limited to nicotine dependence i.e. smoking and autosomal dominant frontal lobe epilepsy.
There may be more therapeutic uses for nicotine but for persons who aren't aware of any significant health problems that nicotine might treat then it's probably safe to say they don't need to take it.
