The amygdala are little almond-sized nodes behind your eyes and an inch or 2 inside your temples, or something like that, and they play a big role in emotion. 'Breathing into'-meditators call it that when you use your imagination to pretend you are directing energy from your breath into some area of your body.
Sorry for the vagueness.
I like experimenting with it. Have had some subtle effects.
