There is some dispute over the validity of the Linden method. I have trawled www.deja.com (usenet newsgroups search engine) and the conclusion seems to be that it's a bit of a con. There's a lot of pages to pad it out and then the real info is very small and simple apparently.
I have a friend who suffers from panic when she drives and she recommended the book from this site

Anyway go to that link it has instruction and a video of the proper way to breathe when you feel anxiety/panic coming on. Notice the fact that you 'sigh' first to expel air, apparently that's a crucial part to correct breathing.
