Taurine and tyrosine have distinct uptake mechanisms. They do not compete. Also, neither one requires a sugar dose for uptake. Tryptophan is better taken up by the central nervous system if followed by a high glycemic index food (i.e. one that induces insulin release). It only applies to tryptophan.
Take aminos on an empty stomach, first thing in the a.m. for best results.
The reason is simple. Overnight, your body goes into a fasting state. (Breakfast, is literally, the meal that breaks the fast.)
If you take a pure amino while still in that fasting state, a rather large change in blood concentration occurs quite quickly (called a bolus). In effect, you use the amino like a drug. That's the best analogy. The bolus effect leads to significantly enhanced biological effects arising from the biochemistry of that specific amino.
And, if you have prepared your body for this bolus, by ensuring you have all the minerals and B-vitamins and such already topped up.....you can expect the best possible response your body is capable of.
Taurine can be taken at any time, even with a large meal. It dissolves across membranes, so it does not depend on transporters.
