There's great little book on flax seed oil by Donald O. Rudin called Omega 3 Oils: A Practical Guide. It totes flax oil as the cure for many modern conditions (cardiovascular health, emotional disorders, immune disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, joint and muscle problems, skin problems, and urinary tract problems). However, the people in his study were all taking, I believe, like, cups of flax oil to get these results. I took a 1-2 tablespoons of flax oil a day for several months and the only thing I noticed was a slight benefit for my skin (less dry). It did not affect my anxiety or depression at all. Also, for men, there was a study associating flax seed oil intake with testicular cancer, so...I had to stop taking it. Anyway, there's also something about the way the chains bond in flax versus fish oil--fish oil has longer omega 3 chains, I think, and this is better for the brain. I'm sure others here can explain it better. But from experience, I know that fish oil does provide anti-depressant relief while flax oil, for me, at least, did not.
Good luck,
