I used to have the same problem. What kind of carbs are you eating? Any 'white' carbs or carbs that are high in sugar make your energy spike and then you crash and get really tired. This is widely known only to sugar foods but it is also very true for 'white' carbs (white bread, white rice, pasta, etc.) White carbs turn into sugar very fast so they have the same effect as if you ate something high in sugar. I would suggest trying the carbs that don't turn into sugar as fast and thus give you a sustained release of energy. For example, brown rice, whole wheat bread, wheat pasta , potatoes with the skin on (it helps slow down the conversion to sugar) etc. You still need to remember to eat lots of protein as well. Also, the 'white' carbs can increase depression so changing to more complex carbs has helped with my depression as well.
I hope this helps. :)> yeah i get really sleepy after a meal... and cannot resist the urge to sleep...
