Anyone had any luck with this place? They are going to visit Southern CA in November and I am thinking of being evaluated by them and seeing what recommdendations they make. I was diagnosed with BP Disorder when I was 18 (I'm now 40). I've always been "non-compliant" when it comes to meds. At this point in my life, I am willing to take meds to temporarily help me to get to sleep if I have insomnia for more than 3 nights but that's about it. I tend to be sensitive to stress but I don't have depression like I used to --I'm holding together pretty well. I'm not in awe of any doc's recommendations nor am I afraid of their fear. "It's dangerous for you to be w/out meds." I feel I have a right to the treatment that I myself choose. I go to therapy regularly and I also get help from my "support communities", you know, peer support.
My biggest concern with my health is my problem with overeating, "compulsive overeating" as it's know in some circles and they way I can use food to keep the rest of the world at a distance. I'm working on it. Unfortunately, most psychiatrists, when they see me coming with the "BP Disorder" label, can only see "BP Disorder" and they aren't in the bit interested in my eating disorder.
So anyways, I had heard about Pfeiffer a couple of years ago and I just wondered if anyone has heard of them or been to them.
Thanks.
