IL-6 and depression

Posted by linkadge on August 18, 2016, at 20:21:15

The inflammatory substance IL-6 (interleukin-6) appears to be elevated (fairly routinely) in depression. When elevated IL-6 results in less tryptophan turning to serotonin (and more turning into neurotoxic metabolites).

I have been feeling surprisingly better since starting the herb feverfew, which (apparently) inhibits IL-6 fairly potently. My anxiety and fatigue has disappeared almost entirely.
