My understanding is that a vitamin D level below 20 ng/mL is considered to be a deficiency and that levels between 20 and 30 ng/mL are considered to be insufficient. A level of 51, assuming that the measurement used is ng/mL, seems to me to well enough above the insufficient range, but I also understand that different experts have different ideas as to how much vitamin D in the bloodstream is considered to be optimal. I'll let Ed and others weigh in on what they think might be best in your situation.
How much vitamin D are you supplementing with on a daily basis?
