Thank-you all for your kind and encouraging words of support. In particular thank you Scott for your heart-felt interest. I have followed your posts for so many years now and am amazed at your knowledge, empathy and strength.
I saw my doctor yesterday. He is rather cold and unwilling to try anything new. I begged him to put me on a small dose of Nardil with a small dose of Vyvanse but that was a no go for sure. I had to practically beg him to put me on Pristiq, as he wouldn't go for Moclobemide either, which is available here in Canada. Unfortunately Marplan is not available here or so I believe. He did however agree to Pristiq. I took Effexor many moons ago and it was energizing but had lots of side effects but I was desperate and went for it.
I have stopped the Vyvanse as all the stims gave me a 'zombie' like response. Amazingly the Pristiq has no side effects whatsoever! I feel somewhat better but it is too early to say. I've read you have to be on this med a while to get the full benefit but I usually know from the start if I will get a good response.
Feel a bit shakey as have been on stims for a year now and suddenly off but I do feel better overall and think I will not take them again.
I mentioned in my last post that lithium made me so energized (manic??) yet hostile and angry. Is this what is called a 'mixed state'? Is it possible to tease out the meaness with an antidepressant but hold on to the energy I experienced? I had the same reaction to Seroquel altho to a lesser degree.
It's so hard to find a p-doc here and even harder to find one that will prescribe a low dose stim with Nardil which could work for me. Parnate was my magic bullet but after having my brain messed around with a bunch of other heavy anti-psychotics it stopped working much to my never ending grief.
What is the'aspirn for the brain' drug that you mentioned Scott? Is it similiar to Aricept?? I know my doctor would never allow it but I could perhaps order it online atho in Canada it is so hard to order any meds online.
Also has anyone had a good experience with lithium? What about Prozac? I had a bad experience with it after one dose some 20 years ago so wondering if I might have a better reaction now since my reaction to Effexor has changed. I am willing to try anything at his point. Being so treatment resistant is not an easy ride as many of you out there must know.
My thanks to you all and much appreciation...lillabella
