To look at an alternative explanation:
The drugs you take are crossing your blood-brain barrier in a normal manner. However, your brain has become desensitized to these drugs due to multiple exposures to them. Even side effects can disappear. In other words, your brain has become tolerant to psychotropics. This sort of thing happens with other classes of drugs, including antibiotics. The mechanisms are different, but the net effect is the same. Cross-tolerance can become a factor with all of these drugs. It manifests as a decrease in the response to one drug due to exposure to another drug. Being exposed to Paxil can make someone less responsive to other SSRIs.
Your drugs are getting into your brain. They just aren't producing the changes in your condition(s) that you would like to see. The biological reasons for this have yet to be elucidated. In this respect, you are part of the majority of people posting on Psycho-Babble.
As to your spirituality, look for hope and positive energy wherever you can find it. I have found quite a bit in my own spirituality. It just seems to help. Studies of people suffering with depression have documented that this happens. The results reported indicated that it did not matter which spiritual or religious beliefs were followed in order to see a positive effect. However, simply attending a house of worship was not sufficient to produce a therapeutic or protective effect. There had to be some sort of psychological participation.
