Thanks guys for your advice on my last post. Sorry I didn't get back sooner.
To make a long story short, I ended up in the ER again. This time at a bigger hospital that had mental health doctors on staff 24/7.
After talking to the doctors and social workers they gave me the option of doing a hospital stay or doing an "intensive outpatient program". I decided on the outpatient program.
Today was my second day, and it's going really well. I spend 6 hours a day in various group therapy sessions (art therapy, psychotherapy, etc).
Today I met with the head psychiatrist to talk switching meds. I was a bit worried, but he actually listened to what I wanted to try (thank you to whoever it was that suggested Remeron, it seems to be worth a try). I'll be starting my new med tonight.
I've been in touch with my work, and I'm on a temporary disability leave. My boss and I agreed that it was best, since he's witnessed what I've been going through since september.
So yeah, things are looking pretty good so far. =)
