Greetings to All Of Our Fellow Suffers,
Hello,

Seems That Mr. Peabody set the The WABAC Machine for this SpaceTime location in the future, and it has landed me in what PsychoBabble now calls "The Present".

"The Past is a memory,
The Future a dream;
Today is a Gift:
That's why we call it The Present"

I started taking Lexapro on March 6, 2003.
I stopped taking Lexapro on April 12, 2009.
All except the first few days were at 10 milligrams.

The first couple of weeks were a kind of rough ride, especially the first three days while I was trying 20 milligrams, which inspired me to back down to 10mgs. The ride wasn't so bad for me with my past recreational history offering reference points for the experience.

But it got me over here in a small hurry and I hung around for a while. First, I read this Whole Thread from June 11, 2002 through April 2003 which took me a few weeks. (I read slow like.)

I posted on this tread from April 29, 2003 very regularly for a few years. I got kicked off psychoBab a few times; Once because Dr. Bob mis-read one of my posts when I had written that <blank> wanted to *run* the country and he thought I had written <blank> wanted to *ruin* the country.

He saw his error and let me back on. What a goof!

For those who would want to (who would want to?) you could read my old posts to find out all about Lexapro, but I feel the rest of the thread is more informative than that.

After 6 years on Lexapro I was prepared for discontinuation syndrome symptoms and knew all about tampering down and having other med support.

Ask me if I used this wisdom: Did I use this knowledge, Jim?

No.

I ran out, didn't get a refill, went straight cold turkey. And it was no big deal. I was a little fussy, but Wifey says I wasn't bad at all. But PLEASE, don't try this at home, Kids! I only mention it at all as an example of how DUMB, I can be/am. We would of course, always comply with our prescribers instructions.

At about Lexapro quitting time I began taking 54mg of Concerta every morning, but that's another thread altogether there. I do read better now.

The one thing that I wanted to add to the wisdom of the ages of Lexapro is, given folks' concerns about weight gaining, which I never gave much consideration, I did lose some weight when I quit Lexapro and I now believe that Lexapro had contributed to weight gain on me.

I had felt that age had been the contributor for my weight increase: I am now 59 and a half years old, thank you. And I am confident that some of my more recent weight loss has been aided by the Concerta. Nevertheless, I feel that 20 to 25 of my pounds were Lexapro at work. (I am 6 foot 3 inches tall and 20 pounds was no big deal for me really.)

Well, that's my update. Hope you enjoyed it. I am doing pretty swell, Okay. Keep those cards and letters coming in. And as BKLVETTE's taught me ...

TAKE CARE!!

peach ouch.
