Joseph Glenmullen, who is not antimeds, has said that 70% of people who cold turkey ADs have withdrawal problems.
In all honestly, I think we really don't know the true statistics of who has problems with withdrawals and who doesn't.
Many people who have problems mistakenly think it is a return of their illness and don't say anything to their doctors. And if they do, the doctors mistakenly claim their illness has returned. Remember, alot of the literature says that withdrawal symptoms pass in two weeks.
I agree that having a positive attitude helps. But it is not going to make withdrawal symptoms go away. Only time does that.
