Lamicatal XR anyone?

Lamictal has been great for my depression- unfortunately the anti-depressant effect only last 4-5 hours. Has anyone tried Lamictal XR as an anti depressant and had success? I'm hesitant because I would have to pay full price- my insurance doesn't cover it?
