A lot of what i have said is just me hypothesing from the research that i have done through google etc. The link is an article from a popular english broadsheet explaining the study, i can't find any direct links
There has been another more widely reported study in the states, but this one, unlike the above didn't have a non-botox group.

There's a few video's as i think it featured on abc news over there...its on youtube. In this study the Dr theorises that its facial feedback causing this improvement. I am seriously considering it as an option and enquired about it today, you can get one area for around £100 in the UK...but as a young male, i will keeping it in on the quiet, ha!
