Ok a little technical here, and not cause i am but only cause ive read on gaba extensivly.
Ok here goes, glutamte is the precursor to gaba, glutamate is the KILLER of anxiet....when gaba is incresed it is sorta like a ladder,it passes glutamte to gaba be it gaba a/gaba b/benzo receptor or other gaba site.
As gaba fades it dwindles back down to glutamte fast, which sometimes explains the hard hit of anxiety rebound. Also explains the old proverb "dog that bit u in the *rs*" because at that point u raise gaba back up.
This is said why benzos beer and other gaba agents for people with anxiety sometimes causes worse anxiety at first since its passing glutamte.
This is one understanding, however if a med is selective like benzos i dont know if this theory comes into play.
You might wanna read into taurine, its over the counter, the second most inhibtaory nuero right after gaba, and aside from resulting in raising gaba levels it also stablizes eletrical acitvity with the brain and body, some like it,some dont, but its legal and cheap, just a thought to aid ur benzo, and thats what i would do,augment you benzo with a mood stablizer since they all except a minor few act on gaba and have a synergy with benzos.
