> Hi! Thanks for all the great info! It's very meaningful to hear about your personal reactions. How wonderful Parnate is making you feel so very good!!! At this point I just want to not be depressed or exhausted. I've only been on Parnate for 6 weeks so I guess I shouldn't expect so much, but the fatigue is killing me. I'm trying to change my sleep med to something other than amytriptyline which is so tiring the next day. I tried Ambien 5mg two nights ago and I didn't sleep very much and was very depressed the whole next day. Last night I tried a quarter of an amytriptyline (6 1/4mg) and got some sleep but tired again today. I would like to ask pdoc about raising my Parnate and about Adderall. I tried a LITTLE ritalin last week but it made me anxious and depressed. I sure wish the Parnate would work faster! Gayle
>Ya MOAI's can sure make you tired and weak. I was like that for a month when I started Nardil over a year ago. I could barely lift my legs or drive more then 10km before wanting to just pass out and sleep.
it went away tho after a month or so.
I switched overnight from 105mgNardil to 40mgParnate and felt no initial startup fatigue from the Parnate I guess since I was already on a MAOI.
My advice would be to keep raising the dose by 10 mg every 1-4 weeks until something happens. I hope your one of the lucky ones who can tolerate Parnate (except insomnia is always soooo bad).
I quit all my sleep meds because they were very much dampening the effect of Parnate, so im in a bit of a insomnia hell right now. Parnate works much better the next day for me if I dont take certain sleep aids. Right now I take 150mg Diphenhydrinate, 20mg propanolol, 1mg Klonopin, 12mg Melatonin, and Im absolutely not left feeling groggy the next day. Trazodone and seroquel completely made me dull and in a anxious and sleepy bad mood the next day. I bet if I used a TCA for sleep it would also wreck my day and deminish any good the parnate would do for that day..Those are my 2 main problems with parnate.
1. Insomnia
2. Augmenting it with something to get the anxiolytic effect to work (I know it has the potential to work on my anxiety, just need the right combO!)PS. Quite a few people dont get a good benefit until they reach 60mg/day or higher. Parnate can be dosed alot higher then the other MAOI's. The 60mgMAX dose doesn't apply much these days.
