I recently took 25mcg cytomel for about a month. My thyroid levels were normal (although in the lower end of normal) before starting the med, but my psychiatrist felt that I may have "subclinical hypothyroidism" causing my depression and some other general health issues (fatigue, etc). Took the cytomel and found that my depression got much worse. Called pdoc and he recommended I stop taking it. I took my final pill on Saturday and havent taken it since. Are there typically any side effects associated with stopping cytomel cold turkey? I've had waves of nausea over the past several days and beginning early Wed morning, a stomach ache. Nausea isnt terribly unusual for me, but I very rarely get stomach aches. This evening a headache has popped up.. also very unusual for me. On the positive side, my depression has improved significantly since stopping it. It's possible I'm just getting sick, but any possibility this is related to stopping the cytomel? Is cold turkey the way people typically stop this drug, or would it have been wiser to reduce the dose more slowly?
