In reply to What To Do Seriously Freaked Myself Out Totally, posted by Phillipa on March 17, 2009, at 21:50:19
> Okay this has been going on for a long time this being tired on benzos. Well I upped the luvox to 75mg finally and pdoc is glad. But the kicker is that I've lowered the valium from initially 20mg at night to total 10mg and .5 of xanax. Was searching internet late last night and saw I could have seizures and luvox and valium, and xanax shouldn't be taken at all as luvox potentiates effects of benzos. And I freaked myself out. How much does the luvox potentiate? And will I die I don't want to on the lower doses of valium as I exhausted but still to anxious to be alone even let husband walk outside the house without me. I don't know what to do. Yes the pdoc has prescribed all for me and thought the potentiation would relieve anxiety and help fears and dosen't. So What to do? Know valium has 200 hour life. So will I have seizures and why tired? I'm drinking two bottles of green tea and trying to get out of course with husband. Sometimes I want to do what I did when young and that was just stop the benzos. Wasn't on an ad then but had taken miltown 400mg and cold turkeyed it with no side effects at all. Am I that wierd? Please Help me figure this out. And the pdocs here no openings now shortage cause of the surge of new people in Charlotte. Phillipa wacko case.
I took Luvox and Valium together and the CYP 3A4 risks aren't necessarily that pronounced. If you look hard enough for something on the net you'll find every possible side effect.
Luvox and most SSRIs are not known for high seizure potential and being on the benzodiazepines would be protective anyhow. Wellbutrin is another story.
Valium does not have a 200 hour half life typically.... maybe its long term plasma level could reach that but its half life is about 24+ hours.
Yes, its true, Xanax and Valium go through 3A4, but the amounts you're talking about are in the noise level. I can tell you I was on quite more than that.
Let the agents do their work -- worrying about them isn't going to help them do any better.
