In reply to Why Won't Thyroid Tsh Come Down From Over 11??, posted by Phillipa on January 19, 2009, at 12:28:04
To clarify,
there are many kinds of antibodies ..some are to the thryoid gland, some to thryoid hormone recptors, some to TSH receptors , some to thryoid hormones, some to ..well proabably many undiscovered as well.
I have TPO and TG found , but my TSH ones seem fine. This,I gather, is typical of hashimoto.
I never could find out if removing the thyroid gland would make the antibodies die off or not. It seems maybe it does as I feel like I have less since my thyroid went stupid after the traffic accident and burnt itself out. It wasnt just my thyroid though, my whole body inflammation and autoimmune just flared up withthe stress I suspect. i had a lot of stuff just go stupid:-)So the idea is to stop those antibodies.. and then the thyroid may or may not recover.. that;s the theory..
