> my pdoc. was a no go on stims, even provigal, not only that she was a no go on any drug, besides the 3mgs of clonazepam I take a day, which doesn't seem to be helpful, but when I stop them I notice anxiety immediatly. I was just wondering,
> if I went to my regular doctor to get maybe a low dose of ritalin, or low dose of lyrica, or any other suggestions, would this be alowed? This is only my opinion and you have a right of HIPAA privacy, but if you're taking any significant amount of medications from your GP and your psychiatrist you should for your own good have a contract signed so the two of them can talk so you don't have a backfire of medications and they are on the same page.
You may have reasons not to, and that's fine. You don't have to and I didn't say you did at all.
As for GPs prescribing psychiatric drugs, especially strong C-II stimulants, I say a no go. They don't have the years of residency and CE credits and patients seen to properly recognize bad side effects in psychiatric medication.
The only place I would say that this has to be the case is in a really small town, where unfortunately psychiatric and psychologic services are virtually nonexistant and you have only the town doctor(s).
