Hi. Have you considered trying melatonin? Agolmelatine, I gather, works similarly to melatonin, by activating the same receptors. It also blocks serontonin type-2c receptors, a type of activity that I believe it shares with Serzone, so that is something else you could try. Apart from that, there are many other types of antidepressants other than SSRIs that you could try: older ones like MAOIs and tricyclics, newer ones like Effexor, Strattera, etc. You can learn a lot about various antidepressant drugs from reading this board.
Rest assured, you're far from out of options even if you can't keep getting the experimental medication. I would try that first, though; if you're on something that's working for you, it's best to stay on it if you can. Talk to your pdoc and/or the doctor in charge of the study, explain your problem.
