In reply to Nardil diet question - ham? bacon? lunchmeat?, posted by 4WD on February 22, 2008, at 20:44:58

4WD,I eat ham and bacon and haven't ever thought that I shouldn't. I have never had any problem with it. I would think the same for the other packaged meats. The main meats to avoid would be something like most sausages that are aged like salami or pepperoni.

Most of the diet is overblown and alot of the forbidden foods are fermented or aged.

I adapted to this diet easily and only had amild reaction once to pizza, which I went a bit overboard on.

Any foods that I'm uncertain about, I eat a tiny bit and stop and reconsider since the thought of a reaction is too scarey.

I had a reaction to using an amphetamine with Nardil and it was quite severe. The most important thing is to avoid any meds that may be contraindicated with Nardil. I'm not familiar with them all but others here may be or there are lists you can get online by googling MAO's, adverse reactions with other medications or something like that.

Why did you stop Cymbalta and how long have you been dealing with depression? I took Cymbalta at 30 mg, was very, very tired, and then at 60mg and couldn't get out of bed for a week. It was one of the worst AD's for me. Show how we all differ in what works.
