Increase Wellbutrin XL 150 mg to 300 mg?

Posted by 8833 on February 5, 2008, at 22:48:47

I have been taking Wellbutrin XL for about 3 months (first antidepressant ever for me), and has done great for helping anxiety, increasing positive thoughts, etc., but lately it seems like I have had some negative, "down" feelings (it seems like haven't had those in so long, I have almost forgotten them!) I have often read that the usual adult dose starts at 150 mg, but then increases to 300 mg after a few days. I have no bad medical history or anything that would stop me from taking 300 mg. My doc will prescribe it if I need it, no problem. So --

Since 300 mg is the "usual" or "therapeutic" dose, will that help better than 150mg? Has anyone on this board increased like this? Is it worth trying?

Thank you everyone for your time and your response!
