I noticed a lot of the people around here are from the UK. I just saw SiCKO, the new Michael Moore documentary about health care in America, and I was shocked!
Is it true - do you Brits really pay NOTHING for health care? Is it too good to be true? And college is free?
Here in the states, fresh out of college I am already swamped in student loans and credit card debt. The first company I worked for got sold and the laid off nearly all their staff in my city. When I was unemployed, I had to go to the emergency room. Since I had no insurance I ended up paying $3000. I got a temp job that had no insurance shortly after to pay off the debt. Also, I had to stop taking depression meds.
So there HAS to be downsides to the British NHS. I mean, SOMEONE has to pay for all that health care. I guess the NHS rations health care more - so unlike in the US you don't get to be on dialysis for 15 years because you got fat and got diabetes.
So . . . does anyone in the UK want to marry a young, handsome American boy? I hear you have gay marriage there too so I'll take offers from both teams :)
