No, clonazepam is only about 5 times more potent (Dr. Bob's first chart is fairly accurate from my experience with 4 benzodiazepines), but it is more subtle, and has a slower term of uptake.

Alprazolam, Xanax, has a mild antidepressant effect for the short term use of it because of the euphoria that is obtained from the immediacy of the uptake of the agent.


Its why I still say often that it should only be used PRN (pro re ne), as needed, because that "immediacy" (gotta get rid of this anxiety) will eventually start to fade a bit and if habituation occurs, one will have to dial way back to get any of that sharp crisp feeling again.
