Emsam patch (lowest dosage) and food interactions

Posted by shoshana on December 25, 2006, at 20:17:10

I was wondering how many other people out there who took or are taking Emsam 6mg/24h patch are detecting issues with food. I never paid any attention to the MAOI food interaction list because I was told that there would be no interactions. When I started having episodes which felt to me like I was experiencing extreme, prolongued anxiety, I felt that there was something wrong with my body but I could not put my finger on it and tried to work out harder than usual at the gym (which didn't help). After several more instances, I noticed that these episodes were occurring after I ingested certain foods and when I finally decided to see what was on the 'do not eat' list, they all turned up. Also, my average blood pressure has always been very good and continued to be so when I was last tested in mid-November. However, while in the throes of one such episode a few weeks later, I was at my family doctor for a checkup and I was told that my blood pressure was borderline high and to keep an eye on it. (subsequently my blood pressure dropped to around 85/55 and I started experiencing head-rushes). Even now, however, when I inadvertantly eat something on the list, I can still feel 'the anxiety' rising in my body. Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks.
