> Just curious of your experience with luvox. Why you like it better than other ssri's. Common side effects. Etc. Thinking of using it primarily for general anxiety control and because it is supposedly better than the others for sleep. Have tried all the rest. I know what my options are and what each can and can't do for me.

>It is the most sedating of SSRIS -- Luvox, and will least affect you with the bad profiles of SSRIs for those prone to anxiety more than depression, just a bit more sedating than Paxil, give or take (personal variation). It also has the advantage that it is off patent, and has a wide range of dosage adjustment. Usually ends at 300, but some people may need up to 450.
The common side effects -- mostly GI, flatulence, upset stomach, etc, which are usually transient and go away with time and each dosage increase. These aren't particularly different from other SSRIs.
I personally liked it because it blocked OCD ruminations quite well though I now take Cymbalta because situational depression is worse at the moment. Cymbalta doesn't do a great job for ruminations however. But for GAD and other anxiety disorders I don't see why Luvox shouldn't be given a chance. And it will be better for insomnia than others. It didn't put me to sleep by itself, but then I was taking Seroquel anyhow.
Hope that helps-- Jay
