In reply to Focalin is not going to be sold in canada?, posted by iforgotmypassword on November 28, 2005, at 22:50:54
my guess is that with most nationalized health care systems, there won't be much demand for "improved" drugs such as Focalin. Ritalin has been around since the 50s; generic Ritalin is available very, very cheaply. Since Canada also has Provigil and Dexedrine (and I think adderall now) on the market, I doubt there's going to much demand for an over-priced product that offers only minor advantages over the original drug. Also, the US is pretty much drug market #1 for more "hardcore" RX drugs--stimulants, benzos, etc. Particularly with stimulants, the US leads the way; since the overall market in canada is smaller anyway, I don't see why Novartis would even bother trying to sell their over-priced wares there.
