Thanks for your concern, man.
I actually got the doctor who Rx's my buprenorphine (my internist who also works with addicts at the methadone clinic) to write me Lunesta (Oh my god! Compassion!) 3mg #30 qhs with 1 refill. I feel SOOOO much better today! Hopefully on the 28th when I consult with one of the senior psychopharmacologists at UMDNJ he will take over prescribing that.
My Lunesta-prescribing doctor told me take it for one week and then see if I don't need it. I told him my insomnia is secondary to taking an MAOI and not primary, so that there will never be a re-establishment of normal sleep rhythms as there usually is in normals who take such sleep aids.
He told me that he just would ideally like to see me not taking it forever. I fear he simply doesn't understand the permanence and gravity of MAOI-induced insomnia, and may stop Rx'ing it in the future. Then again, I have a hard time imagining him ignoring repeated pleas of "I can't sleep!" forever and still continuing to be my internist, either. If anyone in the NYC metro area needs an Rx for buprenorphine, babblemail me and I can tell you where to go. It is $65 per Rx (not including the medication, which is insanely expensive, of course), the cheapest I've ever heard of.
