Sleep aides - what are people using?

Just wanted to know what people are using for insomnia, besides Ambien, sonata and lunesta. A family member is experiencing insomnia and is looking for an effective aide, that won't know him out for 12 hours, but keeps him asleep for more than 3 or 4.
So, what do people here like?
