Right now I take 125 of Desipramine. I was up to about 180, but then I added in the Dexedrine and I had problems with a racing heart, so I dropped back down. I also take 40mg of Lex. I seem to be a person who needs a lot of a drug to make a difference. Pdocs can draw blood levels of desipramine, so that can be helpful in figuring out if you should add more.
Best,
EE> Actually I switched from Lexapro to Desipramine. I couldn't take the side effects from anything higher than 5mg lexapro (most disturbing were night sweats). I've only been on Desipramine for 2 weeks and side effect wise I've experienced some increased heart rate, dizzyness, and sexual side effects - decrease of libido and even pleasure. There has been no antidepressant effect yet and so far I'd say Lexapro is a superior med... but I know it's still early. What is your dosage of Lexapro and Desipramine? I'm currently on 75mg and will go up to 100mg this week.

Side-effect-wise I mostly had problems with dry mouth and dizziness upon standing. The higher the dose, the more side effects. However, they weren't so bad that I wanted to stop taking it.
