If you are vomitting it might be a sign that you are toxic and you should get your levels ASAP. But since you said that if you eat something before taking it, it help. Can you just make sure you take it after two of your meals? If you take it after food do you still get all the stomach symptoms?
If you aren't toxic then the symptoms should get better with time or you can try some of the things suggested below. So the first you should do is find out if your levels are okay and then take it from there. I wasn't able to handle lithium. I was always toxic and throwing up. I finally just gave up on it.
